Not So Rapid Reaction: New York Mets Opening Day Win

Posted: April 2, 2013 by B in Mets, MLB

What a great day for baseball! The sun was shining and the temperature hovered around the high 50’s. The seats were great, the frosty beverages flowed, and the Primeo sausage and Knishes filled the belly. Baseball was back and the New York Mets crushed the San Diego Padres 11-2 in front of a reported home-opener sell-out crowd.

The 4th captain in Mets history, David Wright aka Captain America, went 1-4 with a walk, RBI, and two stolen bases. Ike Davis went 0-5 with four K’s and for the Mets to be competitive they need Davis to get off to a good start. The other member of the Mets lineup that will be a make-or-break year is Lucas Duda, who went 0-2 with two walks and a K.

The Mets are 1-0 after Opening Day. The one thing that you love about Opening Day is that everyone is 0-0 and there is HOPE. Hope that your team will make it to some serious October baseball. The Mets are 1-0 and I doubt they will go 162-0, but I’ll take 85-77.

Opening Day Notes: Collin Cowgill went 2-5 with a Grand Slam, two runs and 2 K’s…Daniel Murphy turned 28 yesterday…Scott Rice made his MLB debut after 14 seasons in the minors at the age of 31.
