50/50…King Still on Top

Posted: April 5, 2013 by B in Knicks, NBA

Carmelo Anthony was aiming for a second consecutive 50pt performance on Wednesday night as the Knicks played the Atlanta Hawks. The last Knick to do so was Bernard King. King scored 50pts in back-to-back road wins against the San Antonio Spurs (117-113) and Dallas Mavericks (105-98) and shot 40-58 for 69% from the field. King sat in the stands on Wednesday watching his former club take on the Atlanta Hawks and watching Melo work his magic, he was quoted as saying “ I hope Melo scores 51”. We find out on Monday who the class of the 2013 NBA Hall of Fame consists of, with the likes of Mitch Richmond, Gary Payton (a sure lock), Mo Cheeks, Tim Hardaway, Spencer Haywood, Tommy Heinsohn, Rick Pitino, Jerry Tarkanian and Bernard King. This will be the sixth time King is on the ballot, King should make the cut. As the clock struck zero on Wednesday night, Melo was 10pts shy of the historic feat, ending the game with 40pts. Bernard King still is the last Knick to score 50 in back-to-back games, but he may be the next to enter the prestigious Hall of Fame. How it’s good to be King! See you in Atlanta on Monday!
