Stony Brook’s Tommy Brenton named 2013 Defensive Player of the Year

Congratulations to Stony Brook’s Tommy Brenton who was named the 2013 Lefty Driesell Defensive Player of the Year. This is the first time in Stony Brook basketball history a student-athlete has won a national player of the year honor, according to Stony Brook’s Men’s Basketball website. Brenton joins the likes of past recipients Anthony Davis, Kent Bazemore and Jarvis Varnado. He ends his Seawolves career as the program leader in rebounds (1,115) and steals (220) and served as co-captain for the 25-win Seawolves team. Brenton has already earned his bachelors degree is currently wrapping up his master’s degree.
